How it Works

🎥 You'll record a short video (selfie-style or over Zoom) answering 1-2 questions from the prompts below.

💡 The questions explore different aspects of the immigrant/expat experience—your motivations, challenges, insights, surprises, and more.

📲 No fancy equipment needed—your phone is perfect. Videos can be selfie-style or we can record a Zoom interview with you.

Recording Tips

Thank you for sharing your story! Before you hit record, here are a few quick tips to help your video shine:

Film in landscape mode (horizontal)
– This helps us keep everything consistent across platforms.

Use natural light if possible
– Face a window or use soft indoor lighting so we can clearly see your face.

Keep your background simple and quiet
– A calm environment helps keep the focus on you.

Stabilize your camera or phone
– Prop it up on a table, shelf, or tripod to avoid shaky footage.

Speak clearly and naturally
– Pretend you're talking to a friend—it doesn't have to be perfect!

Content Tips

Pick one question to answer per video
– There is a list of questions on this page—just pick one that resonates with you.

Be yourself
– This is your story. We want to hear your real thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

Keep it short and focused
– Our final edited video will be between 1-3 minutes, but feel free to record and send 1–5 minutes of footage so we have plenty to work with.

Optional: Add in a few selfie-style moments
– Show us a glimpse of your life, your surroundings, or what a day in your expat life looks like through video or photos.
